TURKISH CLASSES

IN LEEDS

Leeds Language Academy offers Turkish courses in different levels for differing needs. There are almost always courses running for Beginner learners as well as some courses for other levels such as elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, or upper-intermediate level.

You can join group classes for more interactive and economical learning. If you have a too tight schedule and limited time to be able to attend preset group classes, you can apply for a tailored course appealing to your own expectations and answering your special needs better.

PROSPECTIVE TURKISH COURSES

We are aiming to start new group classes of Turkish by October 2011. The proposed start date for the new courses is as below. The classes are between 6pm to 8pm. Enrolment of four students is required for the courses to commence at the dates proposed.

Beginner Turkish: 4 October, Tuesdays.

Elementary Turkish: 7 October, Fridays.

Pre-intermediate Turkish: 6 October, Thursdays.

Intermediate Turkish: 5 October, Wednesdays.

Upper-intermediate Turkish: 3 October, Mondays.

RATES FOR THE CLASSES

The rates for the various types of Turkish courses are listed below. For more information, please contact turkish@leedsacademy.com.

Rate for the group sessions is £120 for 20-class hours.

Rate for the private tuition changes according to the size of the group and frequency of the lessons planned. If you would like to learn individually, it is £25 an hour a week. If you are a couple learners, it is £15 an hour a week per person. This rate is negotiable if you would like to join as a group of more than two or want to take lessons more than an hour a week.

WHY LEEDS LANGUAGE ACADEMY?

Reasonable price: Our prices for both group size and private sessions are very reasonable and affordable. You can compare it with other organizations.

Small-size groups: Our classes are made up of students no more than 12 to increase the level of care for each students and meet their expectations better.

Evening time classes: You might be working or studying during day-time. We offer classes usually after 6.00 pm., so that you can make for the classes easier.

Take once, join as much as you want: If you take a course in Leeds Language Academy, you can join that course again and again for free if you feel you need some more practice.

Certificate: You will be awarded with a language certificate after each course according to your level.

Cultural activities: You will also have the opportunity to take part in some cultural activities to socialize more and to learn more about what it means to be Turkish.

PRIVATE TAILORED SESSIONS

Leeds Language Academy offers some tailored private Turkish courses to meet better the needs of people who would like to learn Turkish. These courses are tailored in terms of time, place and participants according to the expectations of the learners. These courses might appeal to you better if you ..................

Have too tight a schedule to attend preset group size classes and need some flexibility in terms of timing.

Believe you learn better with one to one or small size groups.

Want and require some special care and attention.

We usually offer our tailored courses for the evening time, sometime after 5.00 pm since most of our students work during daytime. Still it is possible to arrange sometime in the daytime as long as that time matches with our tutor’s schedule.

We usually offer our Leeds Language Academy building as the venue of the course, because we believe it fosters your learning process if you are in an actual learning environment.

LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Beginner Turkish:

Beginner Turkish is a ten-week evening course made up of 20 class hours. It is designed for people with no or little previous knowledge of Turkish. It aims to develop students’ ability in Turkish language use in fundamental skills, primarily speaking and listening as well as reading and writing skills in a very basic level.

By the end of this course, students will be able to ask for and respond to general personal details, introduce themselves, and use the very basic vocabulary and expressions such as greetings, leave-taking, country names, numbers, some objects and animal names etc.

Elementary Turkish:

Elementary Turkish is a ten-week evening course made up of 20 class hours. It is designed for people with a very basic level of knowledge and practice in Turkish. People who have some previous study of Turkish before and confident with basic expressions to introduce themselves and ask for personal details using basic vocabulary can apply for this course.

This course is a follow-up of the Beginner Turkish offered by Leeds Language Academy and aims at further developing skills in basic communication in Turkish. In this course, certain dialogues with certain common daily situations are offered to provide learners with wider understanding of Turkish in broader contexts.

Pre-intermediate Turkish:

Pre-intermediate Turkish is a ten-week evening course made up of 20 class hours. It is designed for people with a basic level of knowledge and practice in Turkish.

This course is a follow-up of the Elementary Turkish offered by LeedsLanguage Academy and aims at further developing skills in vocabulary and sentence building in Turkish. This course will be more focused on vocabulary and grammar drilling compared with the previous Turkish courses.

Intermediate Turkish:

Intermediate Turkish is a ten-week evening course made up of 20 class hours. It is designed for people with a basic level of knowledge and practice in Turkish.

People who have some previous study of Turkish before and confident with expressions to communicate in various situations such as shopping, eating, banking, travelling etc using basic vocabulary can apply for this course. Such basic knowledge of vocabulary also includes identifying and, using to a certain extent, a variety of words such as nouns, pronouns and adjectives in certain cases as well as identifying conjugated verbs in basic tenses.

This course is a follow-up of the Pre-intermediate Turkish offered by Leeds Language Academy and aims at further developing skills in reading and speaking in certain situations using more vocabulary and sentence building in Turkish also revising the content studied in previous courses.

This course is a bit similar to Elementary Turkish in that it will be based on dialogues in certain situations, but in a more complex manner and a lot of times referring to what has been covered in previous sessions.

Upper-intermediate Turkish:

Upper-intermediate Turkish s a ten-week evening course made up of 20 class hours. It is designed for people with more than a basic level of knowledge and practice in Turkish.

This course is a development of Intermediate Turkish offered by Leeds Language Academy and aims at further developing skills in reading and speaking in certain situations using more vocabulary and sentence building in Turkish also revising the content studied in previous courses.
