Many students think that must do IELTS if they want to get a visa to the UK, or go to university. But it is not true!
There are a few reasons why we think a Trinity exam might be better for you than an IELTS exam.
1. You can use a Trinity GESE for your UK visa.
If you want an Indefinite Leave to Remain or Further Leave to remain visa to live in the UK, you need to prove your language ability. A Trinity GESE is a Speaking and Listening exam, and you can prepare in much shorter time than IELTS.
2. You can use a Trinity ISE for your university application.
Almost all universities in the UK accept Trinity ISE exams, and many people find these tests easier and quicker to prepare for than IELTS.
3. The Trinity exams are shorter than IELTS.
For ISE, it is still the same areas: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, but the exams are shorter and grouped together: Speaking and Listening and Reading and Writing.
The Speaking and Listening are together in one exam (about 20-25 minutes), and are based around conversation tasks and long listening.
The Reading and Writing are together in one exam (2 hours), and have several reading questions, one writing question about the reading, and then one other writing question.
For the GESE, all the tests are based around Speaking and Listening and take about 10 minutes for low levels and 25 minutes for high levels.
4. The Trinity exams can take less preparation time than IELTS.
Students usually spend many months preparing for the IELTS, because there are so many different questions and things to learn. As the Trinity exams are shorter, you can prepare more quickly for these exams.
5. Trinity exams don't expire!
Students only have two years after their IELTS before they need to take the test again. However, for a Trinity exam, there is no expiry.
