Tricia Mc Tough

Director of Studies Senior EFL Teacher

Hi – I’m Tricia. I studied Drama and English followed by a PGCE after drama school. I decided to try a career in acting before settling down in a classroom. I got a job with a theatre company that travelled to Kenya where I fell in love – with the country! I stayed in Kenya for 20 years teaching ESL to adults as well as running a nursery school for 2-6 year olds. When I returned to England, I continued to teach English & Drama at secondary and also took a CELTA ELT course.

I still love mime, theatre and acting and often use all three in my teaching – it makes the students laugh! I love meeting people from different cultures and countries. I think I learn a lot from my students. I love running and dancing, as well as volunteering in charity work for people in need in Kenya. I find LLA a great place to work with a friendly attitude to students. Come and see for yourself.

Lisa Davis

EFL Tutor / Administrator

Hi, I’m Lisa and I’m a teacher at Leeds Language Academy. I have been working here since January 2015 and I feel lucky to really enjoy my time at work. I have met so many great students so far and the team here a pleasure to work with. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2005, with a BA (Hons) in Managing Cultural and Major Events. After some time I realised that wasn’t the industry for me and I began teaching English as a Second Language in 2010. I taught elementary school children in South Korea for two years, during which time I also completed my CELTA course. Teaching abroad was a fantastic experience, as well as discovering my love for teaching, I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in a different culture and all that has to offer.

At Leeds Language Academy we always make sure our classes are interesting and engaging for students and the content will equip them for speaking English confidently outside of the classroom. I believe that creating a fun, relaxed and supportive classroom environment is a solid foundation for learning a new language. I hope we see you in our school soon!

Ahmed El Turabi

Welfare Officer

Hi, I’m Ahmed and I’m responsible for making sure that all our students feel confident and comfortable with their chosen programme at Leeds Language Academy.  If you need some advice on anything which is making your studies difficult you can talk with me, but I won’t do your homework for you! I am very familiar with the Leeds and the location around the language academy, so I normally give you a short inroduction when you first arrive.

Originally, I was born in Leeds when my parents came to study here many years ago and decided to stay. Now I really think that you will find Leeds an interesting and enjoyable place to complete your language studies. Perhaps you may even stay here yourself. Although, I don’t teach any classes I still like to help students practice their English (especially at our conversation cafe) and I like to help students understand what options they have after they graduate from one of our courses. I’m happy to say that we have many returning students as it’s always nice to see a familiar face. I’m also a very enthusiastic football coach, so if you want to have a game of football (or any other sport) let me know… All the best with your language goals!
